Professional History

Mr. Boyles practiced in Pensacola, Florida with his son, Joseph. His practice had its strongest emphasis in estate planning and general corporate matters. However, he had experience in labor relations, having served as the Chief Negotiator for Gulf Power Company in its labor matters and has served as a Special Master in public employee relations matters concerning the City of Pensacola. In addition, he had significant experience in 1031 Exchanges.

Personal History

Mr. Boyles was born in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1943. He attended high school there, played Varsity Basketball and was a Merit Scholarship finalist. He attended the University of Virginia on an academic scholarship, graduating with a B.A. in Economics in 1965. He received his law degree from the University of Virginia in 1968. He worked for Gulf Power Company from 1969 to 1981, serving as Director of Employee Relations and as the Chief Labor Negotiator. On leaving Gulf Power, he worked for two years as an Assistant Public Defender while obtaining a Masters Degree in Taxation from the University of Alabama. Since 1983, he has been involved in the private practice of law. Mr. Boyles is active in the community, serving as President of Five Flags Rotary and receiving Rotary's highest honor, the Paul Harris Fellow award.

He served 12 years on the Santa Rosa Island Authority, four years as chairman, and seven years as Vice-Chairman. He has served on the Board of Directors of several civic organizations, corporations and financial institutions, and is currently a Director Emeritus of Coastal Bank and Trust, a Synovus subsidiary. He maintains membership in the American Bar Association, the Alabama Bar Association, the Florida Bar Association and the Escambia/Santa Rosa Bar Association. Mr. Boyles has served as an adjunct professor both at the University of West Florida and at Pensacola Junior College.
